Ready or Not …

Exodus 16:4 The Lord said, “I am going to rain bread from heaven for you and the people are to go out and gather the amount they need for each day.”
Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

In 2007 the greedy financial decisions by many of the world’s banking leaders quickly set a global financial crisis in motion. During that time, some of the world leaders began to openly push for a one-world banking system. Many “experts” speculated what might happen if governments did not bail out the large banks that were on the verge of collapse. In this time, I realized how fragile the governments and systems of our world really are. It was inevitable that a new domino would fall and begin the next major global change. That domino was the CoVid crisis. Like it or not, the systems of this world have been shaken and will continue to be shaken.

My intention isn’t to write an “end times” dramatic piece, rather to convey God’s truth. Still it is important to remember that Jesus said, “Many will be led into sin – they will betray one another and hate one another. False prophets will appear and lawlessness will increase – the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:10-12) Because of these things, we must prepare to not only endure this time, but to be His light in this world that is growing darker. This is not an easy task. We need to practice praying. We do not know what will come, but we need to be like Him – regardless of how difficult it becomes. This doesn’t just happen. We must desire and practice it.

In Exodus 16, God supplied bread from heaven for His people on a daily basis. It had to be gathered afresh daily, as it spoiled after 24 hours. It is a great example of our daily need for God’s spiritual bread: Jesus Christ. We don’t receive strength for the year, the month, or the week, but merely for each day. Currently, many Christians are struggling with their emotions, finding wise responses, and getting a godly perspective for the future. My thoughts are clouded and emotionally counter-productive unless I cry out for the daily Bread of Life. I ask you to seriously begin seeking God with your whole heart – every day! There are many issues in the world that need our prayers, but the main point I am asking you to focus on isn’t the decisions of governments nor the drastic changes in the systems of this world. Focus, instead, on what you can change. Pray that you might be able to influence your own environment and your relationships with the goodness, compassion, and wisdom of His kingdom. Ask God for the strength and wisdom to change you. Pray that rivers of living waters pour out from your soul. “Make me like You. Give me, this day, Your daily bread.”
