John 2:19 Jesus said, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”
For the followers who witnessed the crucifixion and death of Jesus, those three days were filled with crushing doubt, confusion, and misery. Then an ocean washed over their confusion, completely changing their understanding of life and death. He is risen!
I think we all experience special moments in life when we get a glimpse of resurrection or hope fulfilled. Those specific moments might take on a similar pattern to that which those early followers experienced: death, a waiting period of misery, then the renewed revelation that God is indeed God! He is able!
Though I have experienced the amazing power of resurrection in my life, there remain questions, frustrations, and unanswered prayers. In truth, the moments of resurrection that we experience now are only a foreshadowing of the ultimate, eternal resurrection He has promised. One day we will see Him face to face and we will be completely transformed – forever! Then our momentary suffering and unanswered prayers will be understood in that outrageous ocean of His eternal glory. That is the ultimate resurrection He has promised!
