From Proverbs 24
By wisdom a house is constructed and through understanding it is established.
By knowledge its rooms are filled with all kinds of precious and pleasing treasures.
A wise warrior is strong, and a man of knowledge increases his strength;
For battles are fought through guidance and with the abundance of counsel there is victory!
If you faint in the day of adversity, it is because you did not build your strength.
Eat honey, for it is good and tastes sweet.
Likewise wisdom is sweet to your soul – if you eat it you will have a future and your hope will not be cut off.
Wisdom, discretion, temperance, and graciousness are decreasing in the world. Arrogance is prized and uprightness is shunned. It is important in these days to take seriously the advice of Proverbs 24. Christianity is not merely the mercy of God to forgive our sins, but the challenge of God to be His children – to be His light in this fallen world. We cannot trust in the wisdom and strength we possess or we will faint in the day of adversity. While there is light, work to build a strong house and to increase your strength – prepare for the days of adversity. Don’t trust in your ways but eat of God’s good honey! Learn of His nature and rearrange all of your thinking accordingly.
